Introduced in 1953, the JD Models 40 & 70 helped expand the new ""Numbered"" series of tractors.
The ""40"" replaced the ""M"" series, with the same size engine, only governed 200 rpm faster. The Model 40 was offered in many configurations including utility, row crop, standard and high crop versions.
The 70 replaced the G with all the same options that the 50 and 60 tractors offered. An LP gas version of the 70 was also introduced at this time.
